Reys, Barbara

Dr. Barbara Reys is Professor of Mathematics Education and Director of the NSF Show-Me Project (middle school mathematics curriculum center) and the Center for the Study of Mathematics Curriculum at the University of Missouri-Columbia. She has an undergraduate degree in Mathematics and a PhD in Mathematics Education. She has taught elementary, middle, and senior high school and currently works with preservice elementary and middle school mathematics teachers. Dr. Reys served as a writing group leader for Grades 3-5 of the NCTM Principles and Standards for School Mathematics, published in 2000. She currently serves on the NCTM Board of Directors. Her current research focuses on the role and influence of district-adopted textbooks in teaching and learning mathematics in middle grade classrooms.
