Carsten Strathausen

Dr. Carsten Strathausen’s overall goal in both graduate and undergraduate teaching is to design broad Humanities Courses that break away from the structural confinements of typical departmental curricula. As in my research, he is particularly concerned about merging aesthetic and philosophical considerations with a critical socio-historical approach towards the art of representation. In recognition for his successful teaching, he was awarded the William T. Kemper Award for Excellency in Teaching at the University of Missouri this spring, the most distinguished and competitive honor for Teaching Faculty at MU. He also won a teaching award for Graduate Students at the University of Oregon in 1994.
