Peters’ research interests include child welfare services, adolescent transitions to adulthood, engagement of youth in civil society, and juvenile justice, courts and probation. He also is a Research Policy Scholar with the Institute of Public Policy in the MU Truman School of Public Affairs. Prior to coming to MU, he was a researcher at the Chapin Hall at the University of Chicago, where he conducted policy research in juvenile justice, child welfare, community development and child maltreatment. He received his doctorate and worked as a teaching fellow at the University of Chicago. Peters received several grant awards for legal issues, including juvenile and civil rights legal advocacy. He earned a law degree from Cornell Law School and was co-founder and articles editor of the Cornell Journal of Law and Public Policy.
