Galambos, Colleen

Colleen Galambosreceived her Ph.D. in Social Work from Catholic University of America in 1995 where she specialized in gerontology, clinical practice, and ethics.  She is a Professor with a joint appointment in the School of Social Work and Sinclair School of Nursing at the University of Missouri. She is Director of the Graduate Certificate in Gerontological Social Work, which she developed in 2011.  She is a member of the Center for Eldercare and Rehabilitation Technology and the Interdisciplinary Center on Aging and coordinator of the Center’s graduate Gerontology minor. She is past Board Member for the Missouri Board of Nursing Home Administrators, and the National Association of Social Workers. She served on the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organization’s Professional and Technical Advisory Committee for Long Term Care.  Dr. Galambos is past Editor –in- Chief for the journals Health and Social Work, and the Journal of Social Work Education.  She is currently on the Editorial Board for the journal Affilia where she serves as Co-editor for the On Practice column. Funding  record as a PI or CO-I  includes the National Institutes of Health, Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Jessie Ball DuPont Foundation, John A. Hartford Foundation, and the Administration for Children and Families, and several government contracts with receipts totaling more than 17 million dollars. Her current research interests include gerontechnology, aging-in-place, quality improvement in long term care, transitional care, care coordination, and competency based education.
