Stevens, Gene

Stevens is a professor of plant sciences in the MU College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources and MU Extension and conducts crop production research at MU’s Delta Research Center in Portageville, Mo. His work with crop rotations and winter cover crops is helping farmers improve the health and productivity of the soils in their fields. ┬áStevens┬ádeveloped a crop water use program available via smart phone to improve the efficiency of irrigation. Stevens is also working on a technology to reduce the amount of water required to produce rice by using center pivot irrigation instead of flooding.
