Michelle Teti, associate department chair and an associate professor of public health in the School of Health Professions, has received a Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program award in public health for the 2020–21 academic year from the U.S. Department of State and the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.

Teti is one of more than 800 U.S. citizens who will conduct research and/or teach abroad for the 2020–21 academic year through the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program. In July, she will travel to the University of Western Cape in South Africa, where she will study how to improve medication adherence among youth with HIV in South Africa. Teti has more than 20 years of experience conducting HIV and sexual health research with people living with and at risk for HIV.

The Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government and is designed to forge lasting connections between the people of the United States and the people of other countries, counter misunderstandings and help people and nations work together toward common goals.
