Jared Decker is an assistant professor and state beef genetics extension specialists. Decker’s research interests include population genomics, specifically, identification of variants underlying complex traits and diseases; genomic prediction; population structure and history; molecular signatures of selection; genome assembly; and phylogenomics, the intersection of evolution and genomics. In his extension program Decker works to help farmers and ranchers use new genomic products and selection tools to improve profitability. He writes a blog at
